When does dance turn wild?
X Gone Wild is a 15 minute piece originally made for the Queer rave Group Therapy at the Copenhagen club Den Anden Side. Later the piece was translated to both the black box and the white cube.
X Gone Wild celebrates those who lose themselves to dance and find themselves in the wild, again and again and again. Exploring a queer kinship to wildness and the fleshy enlustment of raving bodies, this 15-minute piece posits dance as a medium where nature and culture collide and converge. It uses the theatre apparatus to speculate on the cultural-somatic entanglements of queerness, raving and discursive structures of nature. Dance quotes from raves and vivid songs of the body meet in this impactful staging of the xeno-euphoria that keeps the wild alive. The piece is accompanied by thoughts circulated in the theoretical works ‘Wild Things’ by Jack Halberstam, ‘Radical Attention’ by Julia Bell and ‘Raving’ by McKenzie Wark.
The work has been written about by Jonas Schnor at bastard blog.
